Bon-Clyde Beginner Obedience
classes cover the skills needed for Canine Good Citizenship, and
Bon-Clyde offers testing for the AKC CGC Certificate several
times during the year. The 10 CGC Tests include such hallmarks
of a well-brought-up dog as accepting a friendly stranger,
sitting politely for petting, walking on a loose leash, doing
the "down-sit" and staying in place, and coming when
called. CGC training is one of the best ways to improve the
happiness of your dog, yourself, your family and your
friends.
Readily available for petting:
Becoming a Therapy Dog requires taking Canine Good
Citizenship one step further. Therapy Dogs (and their handlers)
are qualified to visit institutions, hospitals, facilities, and
any other place where Therapy Dogs are needed. Becoming
certified as a Therapy Dog requires passing all CGC tests plus a
"Say Hello" test, where the dog shows "the
willingness to visit a person and to be made readily accessible
for petting." (From the Therapy Dogs
International, Inc. Requirements)
Many Bon-Clyde dogs are Canine Good Citizens and Therapy
Dogs, and CGC/TDI Testing is offered several times a year. See our schedule for
times.
