Agility Center at Bon-Clyde
In its 22,000 square-foot, climate-controlled indoor facility, the Bon-Clyde Learning Center offers classes, seminars, and workshops year-round, as well as being available for rent by clubs and organizations.
Our upstairs training area houses three fully matted rings, in separate rooms. Each ring is gated and includes obedience equipment. The main room also has a Pet Store - stocking training items, toys, books, collars and leads. Other amenities include a kitchen area, dining room, and three restrooms. Classes, ranging from puppy training and beginner obedience, to all levels of competition, breed handling, and acting, as well as our specialty classes are offered in these areas.
The agility facility is a 10,000 square-foot area housing a competition-sized ring and equipment for AKC, NADAC, or USDAA agility trials and workshops. The special, polymer-coated sand flooring, from Terra 2000, offers a comfortable, flexible, sure, footing for both handlers and their dogs. A full range of agility classes are offered, from Intro to Advanced Competition.
Other amenities include ample parking area, numerous restaurants and motels, as well as RV parking nearby. Sanford is located in the center of the state, near the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area. The Raleigh-Durham airport and the state capitol are within an hour’s drive; the Greensboro/High Point/ Winston-Salem triad is also a convenient drive on major roads and highways.
BUILDING INQUIRIES: Our facilities are available for dog shows, specialties, fun matches, seminars, agility trials, and other dog-related events. The large rooms are also available for other functions and events such as photography shoots, TV auditions, and non-dog-related events requiring ample room and/or high ceilings. THE HISTORY OF BON-CLYDE
By Bonnie Buchanan
The Bon-Clyde Learning Center was officially opened on November 10, 1990 with a grand open-house celebration. This event allowed people to view the training center and enjoy refreshments, demonstrations of our Obedience class dogs, door prizes, and much more.
The Center's name carries the legacy of my favorite dog, Clyde, an eight-year-old Rottweiler who died of cancer in 1989. One wall of the school is devoted to the memory of Clyde.
The original building was built by my father to house his antique button collection. Following my father's death in 1988, I decided the location would be excellent for my dream of a training center for dogs. After much remodeling and button removal, my dream began to take shape. (Yes, I still have a room which houses a large selection of the remaining buttons.)
Over the past 10 years, the demand for more classes and instructors led me to enlarge the facility to its present size and scope. After 10 years, my dream of a first-class dog training facility has become a reality. Through the support of a wonderful staff and great clients, I hope to continue with Bon-Clyde's reputation as "The South's Finest Dog Training Center".
